As a local parent and frequent happy customer in Eight South I felt strongly enough about an insultingly erroneous review on 17th July to come on and challenge it. I have 2 adult daughters who have worked in Eight South in the past and who have been treated fairly and respecfully during their years of service. Their studies and other commitments were facilitated and their emplyloyers allowed flexibility when needed. Working there gave them a sense of independence and freedom, increased their self-confidence and enabled them to see the benefit of contributing to their local community.

Called in this afternoon for lunch on our way home from Belfast. We hadn’t booked and although quite busy, we were greeted at the door by Chloe who seated us promptly in the bar area and took our drinks order, we were told the soup of the day and left to look over the menu. The drinks service was quick and at this point our food order was taken. Rachel and Chloe checked in with us regularly and both were attentive and asking if we needed anything additional. Food service was also quick despite the number of people in at the time and the food was delicious; we had a honey chilli chicken starter and a main of chicken goujons and skinny fries with peppered sauce (photos for portion sizes attached).

Overall, our visit today was outstanding and we will definitely be back!

I was delighted to discover that this local pub has now started serving breakfast, and after my first visit I can honestly say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and relaxed, making it the perfect place to begin the day.

I chose the poached eggs on toast, and they were absolutely superb. The eggs were cooked to perfection, with beautifully runny yolks, while the toast was fresh, crisp and delicious. It was a simple breakfast, but executed exceptionally well using quality ingredients.

What really made the visit stand out, however, was the excellent customer service. The waiting staff were friendly, attentive and genuinely eager to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal. They regularly came over to offer warm-ups for our tea, which was a thoughtful touch that made us feel well looked after without ever being intrusive.

It’s wonderful to see a local pub expanding its offering, and they’ve certainly made a fantastic start. If this first breakfast service is anything to go by, I’m sure it will become a favourite spot for many people. I would highly recommend giving it a try—you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to return and sample more of the breakfast menu.
